You must be between the ages of 13 and 19 as of June 30th.

Audition Requirements - All Instruments:

• A piece that shows the performer's proficiency.
• A chromatic scale legato in two octaves (strings and harp excluded).
• Sight Reading as determined by the adjudicators.
• Major Scales up to and including four sharps and four flats. (recommended, but not necessary)
• Depending on audition time, the students may be asked to sit in on a rehearsal.

Percussion:

• Rudiments are to be played open-closed-open. Required rudiments are:

  5 stroke roll
  7 stroke roll
  9 stroke roll
  17 stroke roll
  Flam
  Flam Accent
  Drag
  Multiple bounce roll

• Bring your own sticks and mallets to auditions
• Timpani Rudiments are:
  Tuning, Long Roll, sfz roll, fp roll
• Mallets must know all scales up to and including four sharps and four flats.

Notes: Auditions are by appointment only. Although we will make every effort, we cannot guarantee that we can hear "walk-ins" at the auditions. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled audition. Percussionists should bring sticks, brushes & mallets to auditions. However, percussionists must bring their own equipment to rehearsals and the concerts. The only percussion equipment that we will provide will be timpani. Drum set players must bring their own set. Ties will be determined at the discretion of the judges.

The Pops Orchestra meets on every other Sunday evening (excluding holidays), from 6:30 to 8:30PM.
There are sectionals and master classes on the intervening Sunday evenings; members should check the calendar to see when you should be present for your sectional.

The fee for the ensemble is $200 a year.
